City considering bill that would restrict Oahu tour buses at most parks, beaches

The city is proposing new limits on tour buses to reduce crowds at parks and beaches.
Under Bill 19, parks would be off-limits to unpermitted vehicles with 12 or more people.
And those that are permitted would not be allowed at parks on weekends and holidays

Hundreds of Maui County hospital workers go on strike after ‘best, final’ offer is rejected

About 500 unionized housekeepers, food service workers and some nursing personnel at three Maui County hospitals are on strike after they rejected a “best and final” contract offer.

“It’s been rough with the shortage, not hiring enough workers, even the pay,” said Maui Memorial Medical Center nurse’s aide Etwina Rubon. “Just be fair.”

The United Public Workers union has been in negotiations with Maui Health for about eight months.

On Wednesday morning, picket lines formed at Maui Memorial, Kula Hospital and Lanai Community Hospital.
