Dengue Virus Case identified on Oahu, health officials warn travelers
The Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) has reported a new travel-related case of dengue virus on Oahu, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 13 for 2024.
In response, DOH teams have been deployed for inspections and mosquito control in the affected area. Community members are encouraged to help minimize the risk of local transmission by following safety practices.

Three-day hotel strike comes to end with no contract agreement
The strike, involved more than 5,000 hotel workers, calling for better pay, proper staffing, and the reversal of COVID-era cuts in guest services.
UNITE HERE Local 5, the union representing hotel workers, said after months of contract negotiations with employers Hilton, Hyatt, Kyo-ya, and Marriott, no agreement has been reached.
As for what's next, workers say they're ready for more strikes if contract talks don't resume.

The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Livability Index analyzed 173 cities worldwide based on 30 categories of living standards.
Honolulu received high marks for infrastructure, stability, education, natural beauty and weather.
